Editorial policy

Independence, affiliate disclosure, ranking rules, corrections process and the specific things affiliate revenue is not allowed to influence.

Independence

nectar-ai.io is not owned by, invested in, or contractually paid by Nectar.ai, Lick Labs LTD, Mechanism Capital, Karatage, Maelstrom or any of the funds named in the September 2024 seed round. No pre-publication review by Nectar.ai has ever been requested or granted. Broader positioning of the site sits on the about page. If that ever changed, the change would be disclosed at the top of the affected page and inside this policy, not left as a footnote.

How the site earns revenue

Some outbound clicks to Nectar AI carry a partner reference. If a reader subscribes after clicking one, the site may earn a commission at no additional cost to the reader. Partner references also exist for a subset of the alternatives listed in comparison tables (Candy AI, Kindroid and Replika have public affiliate programs; Character AI does not, and neither do JuicyChat or Talkie at the time of writing). No revenue is accepted for a sponsored review, a paid placement, or a pre-approved paragraph.

What affiliate revenue is not allowed to influence

A firm line separates commercial arrangements from editorial choices. Affiliate revenue never influences whether a platform is included or excluded from a comparison; it never influences a ranking, a rating, or a "best for" recommendation; it never triggers a rewrite of a critical claim; and it never delays a corrections request. If a partner program changes terms or stops paying, the coverage does not change. If two platforms are tied on the reader-facing criteria, ordering follows alphabetical brand name, not payout rate.

How rankings work

Rankings and "best for" tags on the main Nectar AI page and elsewhere are built from criteria that a reader can inspect: image quality, memory ceiling, price after credits, mobile support, content policy freedom, and community size. Weight per criterion depends on the section (a "best for long-term memory" ranking weights memory, a "best for image generation" ranking weights image quality). Weights are documented on the methodology page and are not adjusted for commercial reasons.

Corrections

The site accepts corrections from anyone. To send a correction, use LinkedIn at linkedin.com/in/melissablake1 and include the URL of the affected page, the exact passage under dispute, and a link to a primary source that supports the correction. Turnaround target is seven working days for a first response and no longer than fourteen working days for a resolution. Confirmed corrections apply to the page, update the schema dateModified, and log in the changelog available on request. Reader-side rules for using the site sit on the terms of service, and the 18+ access model on the age verification page.

What counts as a source

Primary sources: Nectar.ai itself (pricing, terms of use, privacy policy, removal, complaints, anti-trafficking), founder public statements, filings on record, PitchBook and Crunchbase profiles for funding rounds. Independent tests: named review sites with a byline and a publication date. Community reports: threads at r/NectarAI, Discord community posts, or first-person write-ups on Medium and comparable platforms. Anonymous forum posts or single tweets are not used as standalone sources.

Bias controls

Editorial bias is real and is managed rather than pretended away. This site takes a permissive stance toward adult content when it is legal, consensual and clearly labelled; a sceptical stance toward vendor claims that carry no external verification; and a critical stance toward any pattern that treats users as revenue targets rather than customers. Where personal opinion is present, the sentence is written as opinion, not fact, and the byline sits on the author profile.

Content that is not published

No writing on this site markets Nectar AI to under-18 readers, no walkthroughs describe how to bypass age gates or content filters, and no images from within the platform are republished without redaction where a face or identifying feature might be involved. The 18 U.S.C. § 2257 statement covers the site's position on hosting depictions of sexually explicit conduct. Reader account credentials, if ever mentioned in a corrections request, are redacted before the correspondence is archived; broader data-handling rules for the site sit on the privacy policy.
