What I cover

Consumer AI companion apps and character-chat platforms, with a focus on how the products behave in daily use rather than what their marketing pages claim. Nectar AI is one of the platforms I write about full-time on this site; the wider category coverage that informs the comparison sections includes Candy AI, Kindroid, Replika, Character AI, JuicyChat, Talkie, JanitorAI, PolyBuzz, SpicyChat, Chub and PepHop. My main artifact on this site is the Nectar AI pricing and alternatives page, updated as pricing, tiers and features shift on nectar.ai.

How I got here

I started covering conversational AI in 2022, when Character AI was the newly interesting product in the space and Replika Pro was the reference point for "AI girlfriend". Since then the category has fragmented: image-first platforms like Nectar AI, memory-first platforms like Kindroid, uncensored platforms like JuicyChat, and legacy players like Replika all serving different needs. My coverage tracks the fragmentation rather than trying to force a single product into a "best AI companion app" answer.

Editorial approach

I write direct rather than promotional. Nectar AI does image generation and multi-character roleplay better than most competitors; it does long-term memory worse than most, and its credit wallet is the least transparent piece of its pricing. Both go in the same review, in the same voice. When a claim rests on independent testing, I link the source and state the month. When it rests on a live session I ran, I attribute it as such and document the setup on the methodology page.

What I do not do

I do not publish sponsored reviews and I do not accept pre-approved paragraphs from vendors. I do not sign non-disclosure agreements with the platforms I write about, and I do not take briefings that come with embargo strings attached. If a platform sends a press-kit or a product update, the material becomes another source that competes for verification alongside independent testing and public documentation; it does not become the review.

How I work with corrections

Corrections take priority over defending my original wording. If a reader flags a factual error with a link to a primary source, I check the source, apply the correction if it holds up, update the page and reflect the change in the schema dateModified. The full process sits on the editorial policy page. Response target is seven working days for a first reply and no longer than fourteen working days for a resolution.

Contact

Editorial contact goes through LinkedIn. For any request that involves a correction, a source dispute, or a fact-check, please include the URL of the specific page, the exact passage under discussion, and a link to the primary source you are pointing to. Press-kits and product updates are read but not necessarily replied to. Coverage requests without a clear factual anchor are not replied to.

Coverage archive on this site

The complete current coverage under my byline sits on the main Nectar AI page, with supporting material on the about page, the methodology page and the editorial policy. Legal handling of the site sits on the privacy policy, the terms of service, the age verification page and the 2257 statement.
